"San Sebastián is a resort town on the Bay of Biscay in the Spain’s mountainous Basque Country. It is known for Playa de la Concha and Playa de Ondarreta, beaches framed by a picturesque bayfront promenade, and world-renowned restaurants helmed by innovative chefs. In its cobblestoned old town (Parte Vieja), upscale shops neighbor vibrant pintxo bars pairing local wines with bite-size regional specialties. The Old Town hosts a great scene of local eateries, markets and shops, as well as many landmarks around an impressive cathedral. From La Concha Beach to the Aquarium, there are plenty to see and do in San Sebastian.
The Donosti Cup has been around for over 25 years with more than 650 teams participating. That makes this tournament the biggest tournament in Southern Europe. The Donosti Cup tournament headquarters are located near the Anoeta Stadium of Real Sociedad. The impressive opening ceremonies are held at this stadium and next to it, the Donosti Cup Fan Zone is located. During the week, different activities are held such as the coaches' match, the Donosti Cup Music Festival or the Delegates' cocktail. Many of the games are played at the official training complex of Real Sociedad with 4 grass fields, a small stadium and 1 artificial field.
In the Donosti Cup, have participated players who have reached the top of world football. With this players, a luxury lineup would be possible to do. This is the case of Xabi Alonso, Mikel Arteta, Jordi Alba, Busquets, Mauro Icardi or Marcos Llorent, and for girls, Jenyfer Hermoso (FC Barcelona), Irenes Paredes (PSG) and Amaia San Pedro (Atl Madrid).
The first Portuguese club to participate in our tournament was Benfica. They participated for the first time in the third edition with a girls’ team. From then until now, teams from Portugal have participated in every edition. Indeed the whole website is translated into Portuguese.
Now, we are very excited to start working with Armando Lopes and we are convinced that every year more Portuguese teams will enjoy the magic of the Donosti Cup and a city as beautiful as San Sebastian."
